Tillandsia - Caput Medusae

Native to Central America and Mexico, this strange looking air plant derives its name from the goddess of Greek mythology, Medusa, whose hair was a bunch of living venomous snakes. Luckily, this plant isn’t capable of turning onlookers into stone like she was!

Its green, fuzzy leaves grow from a bulbous base and the plant produces purple flowers on a pink bract when in bloom.

It loves to be grown sideways or upside down and can tolerate periods of neglect although it needs protection from the cold in southern states.

Each living plant is unique and may vary slightly in size, colour or shape depending on the season. Flowering plants are sent when available.
