Rhipsalis pilocarpa is a unique, epiphytic cactus native to the cloud forests of southeastern Brazil, where it thrives in warm, humid, and shaded environments. Unlike many desert cacti, it grows in tropical and subtropical climates, often perched in the crooks of trees where moisture and dappled light abound. Recognised for its slender, bristly stems and fragrant white to pinkish flowers, it is well-suited to indoor cultivation or sheltered gardens in frost-free regions. This rainforest cactus prefers high humidity, moderate warmth, and protection from direct sun, making it an excellent choice for hanging baskets in temperate and tropical climates.
This species will Flower in July (Winter).
The Rhipsalis genus comprises over 60 species native to South America. Most are epiphytic (live in trees). Many have hanging stems making them excellent hanging basket specimens. Most prefer shade and some humidity.
